This work is an installation in which the movement of water alters the state of sound. When the
viewer gently moves or taps the container, the ripples on the water’s surface cause the sound to
shift and transform.
The movement of water and sound do not simply translate one another. When attention is directed
toward the water, the sound seems to take on the presence of water; when listening closely to the
sound, the movement of the water can be felt within it. The visual and auditory senses influence
one another, emerging together as a single event.
Through an experience in which the boundary between seeing water and hearing sound becomes
blurred, this work explores new ways of perceiving and listening to sound.
